Pull Yourself Together is a 2D platformer game created for the Metroidvania Month 17 Jam!
BIG UPDATE:
On 03/09/2023 I have released an updated version of Pull Yourself Together. It's essentially a whole new game with different mechanics, and entirely new levels. This is now a full length demo with 5 maps and a boss fight.
There is still a lot of work to be done, and this is still just a proof of concept for what one day may be a full game.
I intend on adding more RPG elements, NPCs, dialogue, many more areas and polish up the mechanics and movement.

this game is sick, love the graphics. it really reminds me of my favorite game, turkey flight! if i had any advice it would be to make this game more like turkey flight :)
yeah, does tutorial screens are really needed.
Like I got the drill and after rushing past the enemy bot and switching between recollecting stuff and drilling, I got past those tons of rocks.
but then the ever respawning worms jsut blew my butthole open, like sooner or later I lsot everything and game over for me.
game should jsut give you a proper weapon at some early point -.-
Thank you for playing it--everything you said is true, haha. I rushed this version and didn't test it enough or provide gameplay instructions due to the short time I had to work on it :C BUT I am working on the more balanced and user friendly version of this game, and in about a week I'd love for you to try that one out and let me know what you think!

5 Months later... I have done what I thought would take me a week LOL. That's how it goes though.
If you feel like it, give this demo another shot and let me know what you think. It's kind of a whole new game :)
Just played through the demo, nice one.
sometimes it's annoying when you get hit and your gun lands right next to the enemy hive, so you can forget any hope of getting that back.
but in general, nice gam so far :-)
maybe make it so if I press E to pick somethign up and press E again to equip it, pleas e jsut dont show the body parts and the upgrade menu on the right.
since I soemtimes do this to quickly grab my parts in the middle of battle, haivng all sorts of things pop up blocks my view then :-)
That's good feedback. Thank you so much. I had the part window pop up cause I realized players never knew they could open parts to upgrade by clicking them, but you're right that it does get in the way when you're constantly picking up parts. I am going to do a whole UI rehaul before I release the next version!
A little too brutally difficult
I've updated this demo and since you were kind enough to give my old demo a shot I thought I'd let you know I did a big update over the past 5 months and changed everything up. Give it another shot if you'd like and let me know your thoughts!
